  1. Rhythmic Gymnastics is a mixture
  2.  of ballet, juggling and acrobatics. 
  3.  Contestants perform a dance
  4.  routine while executing
  5.  maneuvers with a piece of
  6.  hand-held equipment - - a length
  7.  of rope, ribbons, Indian clubs,
  8.  hoops, or balls.  They perform on
  9.  a mat similar to the one used in the
  10.  floor exercise in traditional
  11.  gymnastics.  Exercises are
  12.  performed to music and
  13.  contestants are judged on grace
  14.  and dexterity in handling the
  15.  equipment.

  17. Rhythmic Gymnastics is a
  18.  women-only event which was
  19.  added to the Olympics in 1984 for
  20.  the first time. In that year, with the
  21.  Soviets boycotting the Olympics, a
  22.  Canadian won the event, but in
  23.  subsequent Olympics, the Soviets,
  24.  and then the Unified Team, took
  25.  the Gold.
